Blogger was doing some Weird Shit Today and it worried me, I get a bit Panicky, coz anytime they enhance The System, or seem to, nothing looks like it should and I am Tech Challenged to figure it out on The Fly or by myself. So, I just shut everything down and started over, and, Thankfully, that restored everything to the Familiar. *Whew I can Breathe again!* Luckily I'm so many Unpublished Posts ahead now that if I had to go Offline for a Week, none of you would even know it. *Winks* I may go Rock Hunting again for River Stones and specifically look for some Wishing Stones and Hag Stones, since, we discovered so many Yesterday, so, that was exciting. I've been focusing on Free Fun Stuff to do as a Family.
When I went in to the Antique Mall on Wednesday tho', I had forgotten to pick up a Check and it was a better one than the last couple Paydays there have been, so, that was a nice Surprise! Gave me some Birthday Money for the 16th if I wanted to spend it that way? In Real Time it's the Morning of the 14th and this will roll out and Publish about a Week Later now... so, I'll be another Year and a Week Older then. *Bwahahaha* I'm gonna ask The Daughter and Mando if they wanna come with us to look for Stones, they went separately Yesterday to do it, we'd already left the River Bank by the time they arrived tho'. LATER: The Kiddos decided not to go but we did, I was the only one Rock Collecting, The Man was in Complaint Mode so we didn't stay out long and I brought him Home so he could Center himself.
Sometimes he thinks he wants to do something and then gets Cranky and Complains incessantly, unable to Mood Regulate appropriately. Which is an indicator, it's time to bring him back Home and we'll try again another day. Once he's in front of the TV and his Reruns of his Fav Shows he's Calmer again and Centered better. I got 3 Buckets full of pretty River Rocks with several Wish Stones among them and some very unusual Stones with Polka Dots in a lighter color than the Stone background, very Weird and Natural. I couldn't find any Images Online that looks like these Stones. It's on both sides of each Stone, which kind of rules out something splashing on them to cause the anomaly of Dots. Googling Rocks with Dots you only get someone's Art Projects. *LOL* Anyway a lot of Fun was had for Free doing the Rock Hunting.
I'm very anal about the Rocks I Collect and Select, so it takes me a long time to end up with just some. *LOL* They either have to be Unusual or an idyllic Shape. We've always Collected smooth round or oval flat River Rocks for Mehndi Rock Art... and for this Mosaic Rock Project that The Daughter is now doing. Any Rocks with Holes we get for this Project too... or that look like Prehistoric Tools, which, they could be, you do still find Ancient Rock Tools and Arrowheads littered around the Desert... along with Indigenous Pottery Shards in some areas. We've found Pottery Shards on our Land up North of the State and on our Friends Land in various areas. You must be permitted if it's not on your Land, or someone you know with their permission, to remove Artifacts. Prospectors are expected to Stake a Claim. Every area has it's unique Stones/Rocks/Crystals/Gemstones.
The Daughter said she spent Years Collecting Rocks in Mexico on the Beach and her Friend Sergio would keep them for her in Suitcases. *LOL* He didn't totally understand her attraction to them, but knew some people actually made Money Selling their Rocks to people and she often did too. She learned which Rocks had the most Value to those that would come regularly to Buy them but didn't have the Time to Hunt for them and relied on Locals to do it for them. Arizona Garnets, Malachite, Peridot, Amethyst, Turquoise, Meteors, Fluorite, Gem Silica, Arizona Fire Agate, Petrified Wood, Opal and Copper are some of the nicest Worldwide. There's still Gold, Silver, and other precious Metals in Arizona as well. Arizona is one of the most Mineralized States in America in fact. Prospectors, Rockhounds and Gem Enthusiasts flock here in the Fall and Winter, often meeting in Quartzite, AZ, which has a Gem Show.
Mother Nature produces some of the most Beautiful Natural Elements and why my Naturalist Collections are my Favorites and bring me Joy that has lasted a Lifetime. I still have Rocks I Collected as a small Child. I have a vast Seashell Collection too. Feather Collection. Egg Collection of various Birds from Ostrich and Emu Eggs on down to some of the Smallest Eggs laid. And Wasp Nests. Bird Nests from the tiniest Hummingbird Nests to larger Bird Nest Specimens. Dried Botanicals, some dating back to the very early 1800's. Well, you get the gist. A Collector has GOT to Collect, it's in our DNA to. *Winks* We've Sold some of our Naturalist Collections over the Years, some of it does have Value to other Collectors... and mebbe they don't have the Time or Inclination to Source it themselves and go Hunting for it, which is our Juice, The Thrill Of The Hunt. I'll Hunt for anything, I'm of the Tribe of Humans whose Ancestors definitely were a Hunter-Gatherer sort and we're still Compelled to do it. I can spend umpteen Hours doing it and it never gets Old.
If you're hunting... may you always find it... dawn... the bohemian
I love stones too. They are beautiful. Blogger glitches can be so frustrating when you're used to a certain layout. It's a relief when you can just restart and have everything back to normal. It sounds like you have a wonderful and calming hobby with your rock hunting. It's interesting how you can find so many unique things just by looking closely. The part about your husband getting cranky is pretty relatable; sometimes you just know it's time to call it a day and try again later. It's great that you got some unique finds, especially those with the polka dots I'd be so curious to see those.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just posted something new on my blog. Feel free to check it out at www.melodyjacob.com.
I'll go right over Melody and take a look at your new Post. I couldn't find anything Online about those Rocks with the Natural Polka Dots like the Two I found. Which was interesting since you can usually Google Lens anything and find something identical. We've got the Project for all these River Rocks in full swing now making a lovely Mosaic with them in front of our Wall surrounding our Acreage. It used to be Gravel about 14" in front of the Wall to the Sidewalk and I'd grow African Daisies there in Season, which looked spectacular. But, in recent Years the Daisies weren't doing well and invasive Grass and Weeds just made it very high maintenance. We're getting Old so I just was Over trying to keep on top of it anymore. This will look tidier, prettier and I can grow my African Daisies in Colorful Pots on top of the Wall for a more curated Flower Garden I can control better.
DeleteYour rocks are so beautiful and unique! I can see the allure of rock hunting.
ReplyDeleteI've Collected Naturalist Objects since early Childhood and it is surprising how many other people Collect Rocks.
DeleteI love this post. Your rock photos are wonderful. Couldn't tell if they are all in your collection or not but it doesn't really matter. I had to look up wishing rocks and found out I have a couple. I never would have guessed AZ could be a good place to go rock huntiing.
ReplyDeleteOnly some aren't MY Rocks, but if I saw some like them, they'd be MY Rocks. *Winks* I have Collected Rocks from as long as I can remember. Arizona is a Rock Hounds Mecca and has one of the biggest Rock and Mineral Shows in the Country at Quartzite. Some impressive Gold, Silver, Copper and Gemstones have also been found here. The Man and his Buddies used to stake Claims and go Gold Prospecting back when he was in better Health. He still has all the Gold Panning equipment and a very expensive Metal Detector.
DeleteI love rocks too. I have several that are neat colors. I hate when I have tech problems because even though I can Google the problem and usually fix it myself, the more in depth problems I have to leave to someone more knowledgeable then myself.
ReplyDeleteI was so relieved the Tech Issue was brief and self-corrected, coz, like you, I'm dead in the water to correct much of it myself. So many people Love Rocks and Collecting them, so I thought this would be a refreshing Upbeat Post amidst all the Political Turmoil going on ad nauseum.
DeleteThe rocks in the first few photos are so shiny! Are they wet or did you treat them with something?
ReplyDeleteJust wet so you can see the colors better 😁... Dawn the Bohemian
