One Down, Another Surgery To Go...

I've got nervous Energy that I don't know how to direct, so, decided to just try to start another Post.   I did Buy that Johnny West mauled Face Figure of Custer at SAVERS on half price day.  It's not badly disfigured, just a couple Tooth marks near one Ear at the Hairline, from someone's Cat or Dog, barely noticeable.  I'm still awaiting Princess Wildflower with the missing Right Hand and her Two Papooses with Accessories that I bought off an E-Bay Seller.  The other E-Bay Seller was quicker that I bought the Right Hand and a Rarer Papoose figure from.  He also gave me Free Postage on one item and refunded me the Postage Cost, since I'd bought Two items he could ship together, which was nice of him.  Retail Therapy is Helpful when I'm really Anxious and Stressed Out.  I suppose I could have worse Coping Mechanisms?  *LOL and Winks*  The Bear Pix is worth rehashing right now, I Feel rather Grizzly Bearish.  *Smiles*

The Son has me watching a NetFlix Series called "Sneaky Pete", it's a Comedy Drama, I like it so far, but can only do One Episode at a time.  The Son is better at Binge Watching even tho' he has Adult ADHD too, but, my Focus is more limited to sit and watch anything on TV.  So, after a Single Episode, I needed a break from it.  Blogging is the only thing I can do for a long time without losing Focus, coz it's a Creative Outlet and so I get more in The Zone.  I'm not big on TV watching anyway, never have been.  I also am not big on Talking on the Phone, never have been.  So, I'm not as attached to my Technology as so many people are, Blogging is the only thing I'd go thru Withdrawal with.  *Smiles*  I like to keep my Blog updated and I like to catch up on Blogs I read and visit with some Bloggers regularly.  That is my Modern Socializing I guess.

Socializing ain't what it used ta be, that's for sure, and what Passes for Socializing really isn't.   I miss the connectiveness that Communities used to have.   Now, if you live Alone, or are a Caregiver, you can easily become quite Isolated and Invisible to Society.   Depending upon how often you can or want to get out and about, you might not even see another Human Being in Person.   I had tried to reach my Oldest Brother-In-Law, the one who keeps in touch with The Man, to let him know about the upcoming Procedure and Hospitalization of his Brother, but the Number I had in my Phone isn't valid.   I don't call The Man's Family and he has his Phone at the Hospital, I think he has his Brother's new Phone Number, but, not sure?   I'd like to let Bob know what's going on, he's pretty good about informing The Man about what's going on with their extended Family, since, the others never tell us.

The Daughter and Mando are up at the Hospital visiting now, I'll go up in the Morning with Princess T and The Son.  My Stomach finally settled down enuf I can risk leaving the House.  But, Visiting Hours are about over, so, not Tonight.   The Kiddos brought him a change of his Clothing so he'd have fresh Street Clothes to wear, tho' I'm sure he's in a Hospital Gown for now.   They don't have him on Bed Restriction so he can walk around in his Room, which is a spacious one with a nice View and a very nice Bathroom.   The Food at that Hospital is very good and he can place his own Order since they don't have him on a rigid Dietary Restriction, just low Sodium, so he can choose what he wants to eat and order directly from his Room.  He's not a big eater but he likes the Menu items they've offered.   The Daughter had cleaned and organized our Fridge Today so it looks like a Vision.  *Smiles*

Princess T went out with Rusty and it's probably a good distraction for her to be with her Boyfriend, he's very Supportive.   She's been very worried about her Grandpa and when she gets overly Anxious, she can have Panic and Anxiety Attacks that are pretty bad.   She has extreme Separation Anxiety and always has had it, so anytime either The Man or I isn't Home, she doesn't Cope well with that absence.   I had to Message The Young Prince that his Grandpa is Hospitalized and will be having a Procedure.  Everyone else just got a Blanket Notification via Social Media, I didn't have it in me to talk to each person individually.  As it was The Niece called me last Night coz The Daughter had told her, and so I was on the Phone over an Hour... The Niece can go Long on a Phone Call... I just can't.  Just on a Blog Post.  *LOL*

I haven't even Downloaded the Pixs I took at Last Week's Opening Day Event yet!   I don't think I even took many Pixs coz I wasn't there very long, shortest stay ever in fact... and, I didn't purchase anything.  I did Score Two very Old Local High School Yearbooks from West High in Phoenix, Years 1959 and 1961.  They had Two others from 1958 and 1960, but I liked the Covers on the Two I got and will wait and see if the other Two stick around for Half Price Day?   I got 30% Off the Two I bought since it was Military Discount Day at SAVERS.  Kids of that looked so much Older, didn't they?  {They Yearbooks are Pictured further Below}   I was just Downloading my Pixs and The Daughter got back from the Hospital and said they've moved her Dad's Surgery up to Tomorrow Morning!!!

So, we don't know what Time and I'll have to go after I get Princess T off to Work now and she and The Son probably won't get to see him until after they get off Work.  They are not gonna be Happy, I Wish we'd been told earlier, so the whole Family could have gone Today.  We'd originally been told he'd have it Friday!!!  And even that was very short notice.  I don't know why they moved it up a Day?   She couldn't tell me.  She cut her Dad's Toenails for him and did his Hair and Beard.   I Hope to see his Cardiologist when I go there in the Morning to ask my Questions about what's going on, since, nobody is contacting me and I'd informed them they should, due to his Memory Care Issues.  You can't be there all the time to catch when they show up, or don't.  I was there for Hours the Night I took him in, and then for Hours the first Day he was Hospitalized, I only ever saw a couple Nurses briefly who didn't know what was going on except Tests being done, no results yet at that time.

Anyway, Moving On... This High School was one of Five in Phoenix built between 1949 and 1957, it was Closed in the early 1980's due to declining enrollment.   A lot of the original Inner City High Schools Closed and most of the Historic Buildings Razed.   Only a couple of the beautiful Old Historic Buildings of Phoenix Union High School remain, it was established in 1895 and once had numerous gorgeous Old Stone Buildings.  It was once the largest High School West of the Mississippi with over 6,500 Students at it's peak, it once spanned 18 Acres in Downtown Phoenix and one of the Buildings included a former Old Mansion in 1909, Churchill Mansion, which was fabulous, but was torn down in the 1940's.  Phoenix is terrible about Preservation of it's History and razes Historic Buildings regardless of Historic Significance, it's tragic.   Well, at least Three of the Old Phoenix Union High School Buildings remain and across the Street One Building of another Old Historic School, now converted to a Science Center.

I'm not sure why Communication is lacking at the Hospital, they have my Contact information but aren't keeping me informed at all.  We're finding things out on The Fly and quite by accident.  I know he's in good Hands, his Cardiologist is a good one, but their Communication with Family is lacking and not adequate.  It's important for Family to know these things and prepare adequately for it.  We've not been given the chance to and it makes a stressful situation more chaotic and hectic with uncertainties and lacking information we'd want to know.   Granted, that Hospital is doing better than they did back in December when I had my Stroke and went there first, didn't get seen in appropriate time for a Stroke, and had to be taken to a different Hospital that actually Saved my Life and reduced Brain Damage.   So, I'd of rather taken him elsewhere, but he was in such bad shape that we had to go to the closest Hospital.

His previous Cardiologist is assigned to that Hospital tho' and we liked Dr. Singh.   The Cardiologist prior to that was Dr. Kiki, we liked him too, but he got transferred to Dr. Singh and we decided he'd be the most Qualified for any Surgeries, since, Dr. Kiki didn't do the types of Procedures The Man might need, and as it turns out, does need now.   Moving On... Another Liquid Blue Tie Dye Alice In Wonderland T-Shirt I got, showing Back and Front.  MUCH LATER:  It's the Morning Of, I still need to ask at the Hospital why nobody has been in contact with me to keep me informed of what's going on?  Especially since he has the Memory Care Issues, he can't always recall what they might be telling him or what he's agreeing to!?   I was Thankful that The Daughter and Mando stayed there until Visiting Hours were over so they could at least know something, since nobody had called Family to inform us of anything at all.  The communication isn't good, the Staff need to work on that.

Even if Care is exceptional, Families want and need to know what's going on and be kept informed about the Patient, especially if they're going to be having Surgical Procedures.   I did notice the Hospital had installed Security at every Door now that is like an Airport or Court Security, with Armed Guards, Canines and everything!!!   That all wasn't there in December, so it makes me wonder what happened to heighten Security that much?   I do feel Safer seeing Security and don't mind passing thru it, but the Police presence was a Surprise, Security was in full gear like a SWAT Team!!!   And I think they're there all of the time now, they had the Metal Detectors set up and nobody coming in at any entrance could enter without going thru the Security Checkpoints.  Sometimes the ER's particularly could be a Human Side Show, now they're not, which was also Interesting.   Seems Problem People are basically gone now that heightened Security has been installed.  They always had Security that could be Called, but, not so Evident.

I'll probably be finishing this Post after I'm back from the Hospital and can then Update you all on The Man and how his Procedure went?   UPDATE:  I got to the Hospital around 7:00 a.m. and talked to Nursing Staff who told me his Procedure will be this Afternoon at 3:00 p.m., he seems to still be in good Spirits and Napping a lot, I think they have him Medicated some?   I feel everything will go well now that I know particulars.  So, that gave me a Peace about it and I stayed with him until about 10:00 a.m. and will go back before he goes in to Surgery.  I ate Breakfast at their Cafeteria, which is good food and inexpensive, so, you don't have to go Home to have a Meal.  He's been moved to the 3rd Floor, but still has a Private Room with a big Bathroom.

No, I didn't Buy or have any of this fabulous looking Mango Cheesecake, but it sure is pretty and got me into the Mood for Fresh Mango.   "Food City" a Hispanic Grocer Chain, had Two kinds of Mango {Gir Kasar & Alphonso} on Sale for $1.50 A Bagged Lot, it also had some Plantains, Peaches, Limes and Mandarin Oranges in the Bagged Lot, so I bought Two Bags.  When we got Home I had The Daughter helping me make some fresh blended Mango Juice out of the Ripest ones.  I'll fry some Plantain later.  I'll rest now until I have to go back to the Hospital.  The Daughter had Mopped the Floors and Mando was doing some Yardwork for me.   The Son and Princess T are at Work, they won't be Home until after The Man has had his Procedure.  So, they won't get to see him beforehand.

When I eventually Downloaded my Pixs taken at the Event last Week, I was Right, I had barely taken any during my brief stay.   There just wasn't the Eye Candy usually Intriguing enuf to Photograph even if I wasn't Buying anything.   So, I'm utilizing some other Pixs cribbed from Online Imagery I liked and some Pixs I have taken at other Events that had more Intrigue.   The Industry really has taken a Nose Dive in recent Years, and those that have been long time Industry Folk, really feel it won't be coming back, they could be Right?  I will be having lamentations about that, but, whaddya gonna do, everything has a Time and a Season, perhaps this one is truly over, I dunno?    And those in Hollywood are dropping like Flies, just this week Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan have Passed, both in their 70's.   Iconic Jazz Musician Chuck Mangione.  And tragically Malcolm Jamal-Warner drowned while Vacationing in Costa Rica with his Family.

I don't recall seeing much of Malcolm Jamal-Warner since his Cosby Kid Days, but he seemed like a nice Young Man and supported a lot of worthy Causes.   I had Chuck Mangione Albums, since I like Jazz and The Blues best, and Instrumentals are my favorites.  I have been a Fan of Ozzy and his Music for Decades.  Not a Fan of Hogan, even before he went all MAGA Maniacal.  He and his Ex had Creepy Relationships after their Divorce where each was Dating very Young People their own Kid's Ages who even eerily LOOKED like their Kids... Ewwww.    The recent Death of Celeb Chef Anne Burrell was also a shocker, she may have overdosed intentionally since they're ruling it as a Suicide now, I watched her on the Food Network quite often.

MUCH LATER:   Well, The Man went in to Surgery a bit early and it ended up taking way longer than expected, close to Three Hours, so I knew they had run into some Issues, as it should have taken a Third as long.  He did have Two Arterial Blockages so they did a Stint on the worst one but he'd run out of Table Time and has the fragile risk factors for being in Surgery, so, they'll have to do another Surgery to Stint the other clogged Artery.  That may, or may not, be done on an Outpatient Surgical Basis, they're seeing how well he recovers from this Surgery before determining all of that?   I stayed during his Two Hour Post Surgical Recovery Period since he kept forgetting he wasn't to move, so I had to keep reminding him.  The Nurses can't stay with him Two full Hours tho' they checked on him regularly, so I said I'd ensure he didn't forget and move.   I ordered him Dinner when he could finally sit up to eat, didn't want him choking if he tried to eat laying down.  He hadn't eaten all day.

I brought a good Book to read, "Trejo", an Autobiography of one of my favorite Actors, Danny Trejo.   I have some of Danny's Cookbooks too coz he's not only an Actor, but owns Restaurants too in California.  He's led a very Colorful Life, including stints in the most Notorious Prisons in American like Folsom, San Quentin and Soledad.   He once offered Protection for none other than Charles Manson in Prison, but that was before the Infamous Murders the Manson Cult committed!!!   Danny said Manson, in Prison, didn't hold no sway coz he was a small Loner.  However, he said Charlie knew Mind Games and Hypnosis, Danny felt Manson could have become a famous Hypnotist had he not chosen the Path he did.  But, it's very likely Years later that Charlie could have hypnotized his Members to commit the Crimes that they did?   It was a very Interesting Chapter when he was talking about that.  The Book is really good, I'm not an avid Reader but I can hardly put it down.

Some of my Family have met Trejo in person and said he's a helluva nice Guy, who transformed his Life, and does a lot of Philanthropic Work.  He's actually the most "Killed" Actor in Hollywood in his Movie Roles as a Bad Guy.  *Smiles*   When The Man got out of Surgery the Movie "Jaws" was on his Cable TV there at the Hospital and he wanted to watch it.  Hard to Believe that Movie was made 50 Years ago!  How Time flies!!!   Anyway, I got my Two Antique Japanese Flower Frogs shaped like Turtles, they were larger and more beautifully ornate in person than they looked Online, so I was thrilled with the Purchase.   I also got my Princess Wildflower with Papooses and popped her new Hand on her that was missing and I'd ordered from another E-Bay Seller.  That's when I realized, shit, that E-Bay Seller had sent me the wrong Papoose, which, I'd ordered the Rarer Blue one from since the Seller with the Princess had the Orange one and I wanted both.  Well, the Hand/Papoose Seller had inadvertently sent me their Orange one and not the Blue one I'd Bid on and Won.  *Le Sigh*

So, I've contacted that Seller to ask if they still have the Blue one I Bid on and Won?   Tho' I already had an Orange one, I won't bother sending the duplicate Orange one back, not worth the hassle, but I will Buy the Blue one I should have gotten.   An Honest mix-up by the Seller, since they had both Listed, I don't think it was intentional, just an Honest Mistake on their part.   To Collectors it does make a difference, since, anomalous Color differences can affect Value, the Rarer Colors produced are always worth more.   And many Toy Collectibles have had Issues of a Rarer Color of the same Product during Production.   Liddle Kiddles did with their Biff Doll that came with a Wagon, some were Yellow Wagons, some were Red, the Yellow being Rarer and thus potentially more Valuable.   With the Papoose the Picture on Princess Wildflower's Box had a Blue one but often came with an Orange one instead, so I Believe the Blue was Rarer actually and harder to Source and that Seller had the only one at a decent price point.  UPDATE: Seller is sending me the Blue one for Free, since it was his Mix-Up, kind Seller, I've bought from before.  Didn't want me paying for a Mistake he'd made.

Anyway, becoz I spent so much time at the Hospital Today I didn't get much else done and feel pretty drained.  It had been an Emotionally charged and Tense Day until I knew The Man was safely out of Surgery and doing well during his Recovery Period so far.   The Son brought me a McDonald's Dinner, I don't really like food from The Golden Arches but it was the closest to the Hospital and he's got the Car being unreliable. The Cafeteria at the Hospital had already Closed and I didn't wanna leave his Room since I was keeping a Post-Surgical Eye on him to make sure he didn't move and start hemorrhaging.  Keeping him Still can be problematic since he had to remain motionless and laying Flat for Two Hours, not even lifting his Head up off the Pillow, and he kept wanting to squirm or to touch his Groin area coz it itched where they went in.   It's like trying to keep a Toddler to be Still.  *Le Sigh*   But, we managed and I was relieved when the Two Hours was up, he was able to finally Eat and I could go Home and Rest.   One Surgery down, another Surgery to go now...

That Bee that Stung him probably Saved his Life or we wouldn't have known about these Two Blockages he had that were apparently quite serious ones.   The Universe works in Mysterious ways like that sometimes.   I knew his reaction to being Stung wasn't normal for him, so, it immediately alarmed me that he had such a significant reaction to it.   Well, it was becoz of the Arterial Blockages and when the Adrenalin Rush came from being Stung, it showed up in his involuntary reaction to it.   Like a clogged Drain about to rupture.   So, a worse reaction narrowly averted by said Bee... if those Blockages had just later on caused a massive Heart Attack instead!!!   At first they had thought he had Fluid Build Up only around his Heart, but then discovered the Two Blockages as well, so had to drain Fluid AND unblock at least One of the Two.   I don't know how soon they'll want to unblock the other one, but I'm guessing ASAP.   So, we'll be going thru this again relatively soon.

My Friend's Daughter said her Mom is now Home from Hospital, but due to the Cancer Treatments, her Hair is falling out now, so her Daughter had to cut it.  That was hard and very Emotional for them both, a Sad Moment.   I'm glad she's Home tho' and around her Loved Ones, I think it is more beneficial to her than being in a Hospital.   I do Hope her Daughter can get a Home Nurse approved so her Mom can stay at Home for as long as possible.   Since she's on Medicaid tho' and that's all being slashed, I just don't know what she'll be denied in the way of Care or even Treatments covered?   So I am concerned about how difficult it might be for her Caregiver to receive Approval for what her Loved One desperately needs and the Hoops she'll have to jump thru during an already stressful and most difficult time.

  1. Oh Dawn, you have your hands full. I remember those days in the hospital with my dad. He would forget what they told him and tell me I was making things up. And keeping him still was a job. Glad everything seems to have gone well and I just can't believe how fortunate that bee sting was! And your quick action to get him to the ER! It was your spidey sense! Beautiful photos as usual. I hope things continue to go well and you can get some rest.

    1. It is quiet and silence is appreciated at Home, so Rare in a Three Generation Family Unit living and Sharing Space... so I'm reveling in having the House to myself Today, it's Restorative. I don't know how long they shall keep him Hospitalized, depends on how he Heals from Surgery No. One and when they decide to do Surgery No. Two and how critical is is to keep him from having a Major Medical Emergency? I owe a lot to my Spidey Senses, and I never ignore them.
