Sidelined During The Holidays... Dammit!!!

Work went okay, my Friend Sherry was Working and she's a good Worker, Jackson was Working, nice Guy, not so much a Worker, and some new Lady that was also a fill-in, that wasn't so much a Worker either.  It was super busy, so it would have been better to have Four of us scrambling and not just Two of us to keep pace with Customer demands.  But, Jackson did help me with a Blow Mold Nativity Set Customer coz the Vendor had it up high and he's tall so could reach it without a Ladder of Death being necessary.  *LOL*

I like Jackson, he will always help if you need and ask him to, he's very nice and personable.  He just works slow and is far too laid back a personality when it's busy, so a lot of Cases went to Last Call.  And, that new Woman, kept disappearing so I don't know what she was doing, but seemed to be working on her Spaces while on the Clock.  I didn't talk to her much, I was too busy.  And only Sherry and I were working on the Go Backs, the Shift before us clearly hadn't done them either.  When I got there the Go Back Cart was overflowing and it took Sherry and I all Night long to try to keep pace with what was already on there and then put on there during our Shift too.

And there were expensive Jewelry items from Locked Cases on the Go Back Cart and that's not supposed to ever happen either, for Security reasons.  If a Customer changes their Mind on a Locked Case item, the Paid Staff are supposed to directly hand it to a Key Dealer {Vendor Working a Shift} to put back in the Locked Case, so that Eyes are on it the whole time.  When I did Case Lock Checks I found Two Open Unlocked Cases too, so that's not good either.  Either someone forgot to re-lock them or the Locks popped when another Case by them was opened.  Online it says Norovirus is highly contagious and making it's rounds more intensely than usual.  Splendid... infectious, so the whole Family could come down with it!!!

They say to keep hydrated, check... and to stay Home for 48 Hours after Symptoms subside, check, I can do that.  We don't have anything Calendared until the Weekend anyway as far as I know.  At least tho' I have the Nausea, I am one to rarely throw up, so, that hasn't been a problem with vomiting, whew!  My Thoughts are all over the place so bear with me in how scattered and ADHD this Post is gonna be, Okay?  *LOL*  I'm thinking of Everything all at once and doubt you'll be able to follow any of it since I'm going in several directions at once?  *Winks and Smiles*  When I'm not feeling Well my Symptoms of having an Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity are way worse coz I'm being forced to have Down Time, which is excruciating for me.

So, I digressed and got off Topic again, Sorry, back to the Locked Cases being not Locked.  We notate and Log it in case something turns up missing from that Case.  Then they can check Video Security Surveillance around that time frame.  Someone had made little Mice Cookies, that were so Cute I Photographed them for Blog Fodder.   One had lost his Ear.  *LOL* During the Holidays people bring Treats from Home in for everyone.  It was basically a good Night overall and after we were Closed a lingering group who was buying Disney products asked me to open my Case and bought some Disney Mouse Ears.

They were going to Disneyland for Christmas and had been looking at Disney Merch all Night long.  It was a Mom and her Two Kiddos and they all wanted Ears to wear while there.  Disney puts out a multitude of Mouse Ear Headbands now but most Vendors who Specialize in Disney are charging a Fortune.  I could tell that the Mom was struggling to budget for Ears for all.  So, mine were priced way cheaper anyway but I gave her an additional 15% Discount since she had been frantically trying to get everyone Ears before we Closed.  She was so Grateful... and I needed the Sale.  *Win-Win*

On the way taking Princess T to Work that Morning a big SUV was on Fire and literally melting!  I hope the Driver got out Safely, it didn't appear to have been in an Accident and was in a Left Turn Lane when it happened, very Strange.  I had stopped at the Chase Bank across the Street to make a Deposit and took both crappy quality Photos of it happening from there.  Too fearful to get closer lest it blew up.  It looked like a newer SUV and all it's Lights were still on as it was melting away, literally Metal dripping the Fire was so Hot!  The Fire Trucks had arrived and were trying to put it out as I was taking these Pixs from a safe distance.

Today is "Sweet Salvage's" last Event of the Year and I can't go.  I got the Trots at about 3:00 a.m. and have had to stay close to the Bathroom.  I couldn't even take Princess T to Work, I had to have The Man wake The Son up and drive her in my Truck, he's the only other Legal Driver in the Family.  Mando can drive but has been feeling not Well lately so I didn't wanna wake him up to ask him, he's been bedridden for a couple Days too, but his is likely due to his Terminal Illness flaring up.

He has good days and really bad days.  It's why he stays here almost all the time now, so people will be around, coz he lives alone.  He doesn't wanna have to be admitted to a Hospice until he absolutely has to.  I think that's Wise coz with living alongside a Family who Cares about him he can focus on Living rather than being in a Hospice focused on Dying.  Quality of Life is always more relevant IMO than Quantity of it.  He used to be perpetually Depressed when we first met him and now he's not coz he feels more Alive and not Fixated on being told he was Dying and had an Expiration Date.

He passed by the Expiration Date several Months ago and said he took to Heart what I'd told him.  Which is the same thing I told my Younger Brother Years and Years ago when he was given a Two Week Expiration Date by his Specialists and they told our Family to make Funeral Arrangements for my Brother.  That was well over 25+ Years ago and he's still here and Doctors are baffled coz he's still Terminally Ill, he just refused to Die yet.  Anyway, I remember when my Brother called me after being given Two Weeks to say Good-Bye and I simply said, "You're not Dead 'til GOD says so."  I said the same to Mando.

I told both of them they could choose to Receive the Manmade Expiration Date, or NOT Receive it and just keep on Living until God decides to Take them into the Afterlife on His Timing.  I've had prognosis that was grim many times over my Lifetime, I didn't Receive any of it, and, I'm still here and doing what the Docs/Specialists told me would be impossible for me to do.  Something is only impossible until someone does it, then it's quite possible.  Anyway, I acknowledge their Diagnosis, just not the Prognosis that is always way too Negative, Grim and Hopeless if you Receive it.  But, I digress, Princess T got to Work and if this shitfest lasts all day, The Son will have to pick her up in my Truck too after Work.  *Le Sigh*

I'm kinda bummed at not attending the End of Year Opening Day of the Event, but, it lasts Four Days and hopefully whatever this Stomach Bug is doesn't?  I've rarely missed an Event there so my Industry Friends will think and know something is Wrong and I'll get some PM's on The Book of Faces asking if we're Okay.  This isn't anything Serious, just miserable and annoying as fuck.  And Yesterday my Stomach felt Off but wasn't vacating everything yet, so I just felt like I had an upset Stomach and ate some bland and light Foods all Day, which seemed to help.  But, Today, starting at fucking Three in the Morning... it was brutal.  Room was spinning, felt nauseous, and racing to the Bathroom.  My Stomach and Intestines are making Horror Movie worthy Noises!  *LOL*

I don't like being Sidelined during the Holidays, still so much to get done and Christmas is so close now.  I've got to Buy some Scratch Holiday Lottery Tickets to put in everyone's Christmas Stocking.  Every Year someone had Won something on a Scratch Ticket.  I wanna Buy a Powerball Ticket too before the Drawing, it's up over a Billion in Winnings.  I'm not a Gambler, so I rarely play, but, I've known some significant Winners over the Years.  In fact, when the Lottery began in Arizona I knew the Gal that Won the first Ten Grand Scratch Prize on it, she was a Co-Worker of mine.  She bought a new SUV with it, if that tells you how long ago it was that you could Buy a High End SUV for Ten Grand.  *LOL*  My Ex Won Five Grand when we were Married, he was a Gambler and would always Buy a few Lottery Tickets.  The Man isn't a Gambler either so we only Buy mebbe 2-3 Tickets Annually.  I'm an Odds and Stats Person, so Gambling makes no logical sense to me.

  1. Hope you feel better soon, Dawn!

I'm a prime lurker. Since my internet access is on my phone and I have Uneducated Thumbs, plodding my way along the keyboard with my ring finger is painfully slow! So I rarely comment. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Please take care of yourself. Your adult kiddos proved they can problem-solve on Thanksgiving. 👍 Baby steps! :-)
