Yes, it's Friday The 13th, but also Today The Daughter's 3rd Child turns 18 and is now Grown! She's the oldest of the Trio in Mexico and has taken over Care of St. Maria's Home and Care of her Younger Sister, the Middle one, the Youngest lives with her Stepmom's Sister and Family after their Paternal Grandmother Died. So, Two more to go until all of The Daughter's Children are Adults, Time sure flies and those Two are close to Adulthood. One has a Birthday in late December just after Christmas and the other just after New Year's in early January. The Daughter sent her $100 she'd earned doing stuff on the side, which was all she had.
I'm upset with The Man, he's been particularly resistant lately to taking regular Showers and lying about taking them when we insist he take one. The Daughter spent all of Yesterday Deep Cleaning our Room, washing all the Linens and making it Smell lovely. Well, since Irrigation was coming at 5:00 a.m. I slept on the Sofa so that I'd hear The Son leaving for Work at 4:00 a.m. and be ready to get up and ensure TJ or Rob was helping The Daughter with the Irrigation Duties and nobody would forget. As it is our Pump needs repair AGAIN that feeds it to the Front where the Big Pine Trees are and TJ needs Daylight to fix that. *Le Sigh*
So, The Man hears me being up and toddles down the Hallway, which, The Daughter had also Mopped the entire House, so everything was squeaky Clean and fresh smelling. I look at his Feet and they're absolutely filthy, like they had been at the VA Appointment! I'd told Princess T to check on her Grandpa while I was at Work to ensure he did take his Shower before he rolled into our Clean Bed. She said she did and he'd gone into the Bathroom and shut the Door, so she'd assumed he HAD Showered, it's not like she's gonna watch him do it!
Well, no way had he gotten Wet or Showered and still stayed that dirty! He argued with me that he had Showered and his Feet got THAT dirty walking down the Clean Hallway ONCE! No way walking down a Clean Mopped Floor ONCE you got that dirty I countered! *Insert Eye Roll and Resting Bitch Face* I don't know who he thinks he is fooling, listen, if you're un-showered you not only LOOK dirty you SMELL unclean and funky too! He went back to Bed and refused to get in the Shower and so now I'm going to have to battle him to get him in there, it's exhausting to have him resisting his hygiene and it's vitally necessary so he doesn't get skin rashes or infections, he's an Insulin Diabetic.
I remember going thru this same shit with my Dad once he got to be in his 70's and it seems to be some Old Man Thing coz I hear a lot of other Senior Women complain about it. I'm not saying all Old Men develop a resistance to proper hygiene, or that perhaps some Women might also for some unfathomable reason, but, it's problematic when you're the Caregiver. I spoke to The Daughter about it and she said she'd coax her Dad into letting her Wash his Feet and Legs for him coz he hasn't been feeling Well. So, when he's not feeling Well he's very contrary and gets angry in a flash. You choose your battles with him wisely since I de-escalate his inability to Mood regulate himself.
I used Dr. Google to research this Issue and I guess it's VERY common with the Elderly in various states of decline, who knew? We help him with his Routines, Diet and Hygiene, but, he's often resistant to the Need for maintaining Hygiene appropriately or eating properly. Thanks for allowing me the Vent about it, it's so frustrating, I take my Caregiving Seriously, but it's all the more exhaustive when they are uncooperative and downright difficult to manage the Care of. I realize as the progression of Dementia worsens it will get harder to manage, but we have to. And it's important to keep him at Home where he's Loved and has the best Care surrounded by Family working hard to improve his condition or delay it worsening in any way we can Dream up.
We can't afford Long Term Care for him financially anyway, and even before with just the TBI, Placement was impossible. Nobody wanted a Resident like him and literally all of them refused to have him, including the VA Old Soldier's Home. The Advocates and Caseworkers they assigned to us were impotent to be of any present Help whatsoever. Now we don't have any more Caseworkers and I'm hesitant to go thru that whole Dog and Pony Show again. Since, it was a lot of hassle with no reward or results to improve our situation at all. I suspect our Healthcare System will only get worse under the new Administration coming in, who seem to be rife with Conspiracy Theorists and Saboteurs of Social Programs.
I'm glad we have no more Minor Children if they end up suspending all Vaccines and we go back to 18th Century Plagues of once eradicated illnesses due to the retardia. I made up that Word, but it perfectly describes the Lunatic Fringe MAGA Maniacs Movement, who are seemingly Anti-Science, Anti-Civil Rights, Anti-Facts, Anti-Truth, Anti-Vaxxers and Anti-Democracy... well, a whole LOT of Anti, let us just say. If they want to Die from preventable illnesses I really wouldn't Care. Except for the fact many are contagious ones, and spreading them to the rest of us more responsible Humans, due to their ignorance and Beliefs, is not a Hill I Wish for me and mine to end up Dying on becoz of them.
We all knew The Covidiot Spreaders during COVID, and tho' Natural Selection did cull their Herd, not before they spread it more than it should have been spread. We all also know how many responsible Humans Died horribly becoz of the Covidiots reluctance to follow CDC Protocol, even Mask or get Vaxxed. I remember having to tell some people I knew, who were Deniers that there even was a Pandemic, or were adamant Anti-Vaxxers, that they couldn't be around us. Some Died, some Lucked Out and didn't, we just refused to have exposure to Covidiots.
No compromising or discussion about it, go be Stupid and Stubborn somewhere else, Be Well {hopefully} and Be Gone. I have not even chosen to re-establish any contact with the Survivors. If someone is going to take ridiculous Life and Death Risks, and run with low information constantly and stubbornly, and refuse what would be Healthy and Helpful, Honestly, I just am not going along for the Ride or Dealing with it. You can't fix Stupid as Comedian Ron White would say. *LOL* Life is ever so much more Zen when you're not Dealing with the Stupidity and Irresponsibility of other people that you simply don't have to. But, Stupid and Irresponsible Leadership, we all have to Deal with the consequences of. Which is Why we NEED an Escape into the Holidays this December and not resurface 'til January 2025.
Anyway, we can't change how other people just are, we just have to be the best versions of ourselves we can be to offset it all as much as possible. We had issues with Irrigation, the Pump and Pipes that feed the Front and East Side Yard out Front aren't working properly AGAIN. So, I had to Water all that with our Hose and pay for the Water, and not take on all the Water we're entitled to coz it was flooding without it going to those sections it's scheduled to irrigate. So, The Daughter and I are out there in freezing Cold Water up to our Calves coz TJ and Rob forgot to close the Gates and it flooded my back Patio area some... dammit.
They've been teaching The Daughter how to do what I've been Hiring them to do, since, neither of them wants to do it anymore. So, I'm considering getting a Quote from a Contractor to redo the Irrigation system we have to a more user friendly one that doesn't always require so much in the way of repairs either. It's an old System from about 1980 so not optimally functional anymore and aging to where it needs to be updated or replaced now. But, we got it all squared away, between The Daughter and I fumbling around with it ourselves. The Son is already at Work, so is Princess T, and we can't have The Man risk doing any of it, for obvious reasons. *Eye Roll*

I bought her some Cigs and a couple Mike's Hard for taking one for the Team this Morning. She had some of her Lifelong Female Friends like Bree and Becky over here helping too, at Five in the fucking Morning, so all us Gals are stumbling around in the Dark and it was rather comical and we're Laughing and shivering, looking like Rats on a Sinking Ship in frigid Waters. *LOL* Amber and Bree had helped The Daughter out financially for Christmas, so she could send some Money to Mexico without Selling Plasma. Princess T got off early and she gets off early Tomorrow, coz they really hustled to get the Work done, they're doing 6,200 Lbs. of Inventory a Day right now. They only have 4,700 to do Tomorrow, so it will be an easy day. Management wants them to eventually hit 7,000 but they are understaffed to hit those production numbers.
I took a late Morning Nap, since I'd had to be up so early, so, Slept 'til Noon. With having to Work Tonight I didn't want to be too fatigued. I do Hope it's busier Tonight than it was on Thursday Night, the Shift drags when there's few Customers and nothing to really do to keep busy. Plus, it's disheartening to be a Season where Sales should be Strong and they're so Soft you're wondering if anyone will make any Money or break even and not Owe? I'm pulling more Shifts to offset my Rent and am concerned about how much they intend to raise Rents in January as we've heard Rumors of? If nobody is making Money, they can't afford an increase in Overhead.
Other Antique Malls having Holiday Events are doing very well tho'. We went to MERCHANT SQUARE and HIGHLAND YARD VINTAGE on Thursday and they were so busy the Lines at Checkout at the Warehouse Event literally went from the Front all the way to the Back! I didn't Buy anything there, wouldn't have had Time to stand in Line that long before we'd have to leave. I just made a couple tiny purchases at the Antique Mall, pictured Below. A couple of Christmas Trees made out of Old Rulers as Ornaments. And a 1950's Era School Milk Carton with the Candy Cane Straw and Santa Straw Topper that both The Man and I remember from Grade School.
I like Funky little Seasonal Decorations like this, which were never really meant to be Saved or still Exist since they were disposable. But someone Saved One for Nostalgic reasons and so now it does still Exist and evokes fond Memories of a long gone Past. Ephemera is some of my Favorite Collectibles becoz of how little of it was Saved and didn't get thrown out. I thought the little Ruler Tree Ornaments were Clever, I wouldn't have bothered making them for how low priced they were, plus I got a Military Discount on all my Purchases that weren't already on Sale for the Holiday Event going on. That Mall is clear over in Chandler and offers a standing Military Discount, our Mall is less than 5 Miles from a Major Military Base and doesn't!
This Mall also has a Senior Day, ours doesn't, it's just Bad Marketing on the part of our Mall's Management IMO, they could Stimulate Trade by doing both too but are resistant to the suggestion to. I don't know Why, it doesn't come out of their Pockets and most Vendors would be Okay with it to increase Sales. I've not heard any of our Vendors against doing a Senior or a Military Discount. LATER: Well, Work was really busy, which was a relief that we had stronger Sales and more Customers than Thursday. Tuesday and Wednesday had been so flat I hadn't Sold anything either Day, which is highly unusual to have no Sales. So, Sales overall are still pretty flat and I'm hopeful the Weekend is very Strong to compensate?
I'm thinking that Tomorrow I may go to the Event at STUDIO 108 COLLECTIVE, it will end on Sunday, but I don't want to wait for the last day of it. Next Thursday will be the Event at SWEET SALVAGE and then that's a Wrap for Holiday Themed Events for Christmas. It's ticking down now to a little more than a Fortnite before it's Christmas. I'm Surprising Princess T with a few small Christmas Gifts she doesn't know she's getting and I know she'll really like. She thinks I'm not buying anyone anything but I can't leave her out, I sent her Brother some Money for Christmas and it wouldn't be right to not get her anything. I do have too many Grandkids and Great-Grandkids now... so not everyone gets something all the time or I'd be full time broke. *LOL*

I'd been looking for a 1966 Water Winter Wonderland Michigan License Plate to use as a Christmas Prop. Hard to find them locally, only ever saw One a few Years ago and it was in poor condition and very expensive. So, finally I went Online and bought this one on E-Bay at a fair price and it has my Initials, which was perfect Serendipity, it should arrive before Christmas. I had become fixated on finding one and had grown weary of thumbing thru piles and piles of old License Plates at Antique Stores and Michigan only had that Logo and License Color Combo a short, very brief time in the Sixties. This one is in exceptional condition for it's Age. Most you find are from 1966, tho' they made this Slogan starting in 1965. Some folks Collect Old License Plates seriously, I have a small Collection of them.

I got my Metaphysical Design Bamboo Yogurt Pot Lids from the Online Seller I Ordered them from. Quick shipping and inexpensive, but I was disappointed that most of the burnt on Design was poorly done and so faint on 10 of the 12 Designs you could barely make out what it is. On their Online Pix they were done dark and easily visible. So, on my Review I mentioned that the Design being so faintly applied was a disappointment, I couldn't give them a great Review with such poorly applied Design, which is what was their Selling Point. I'm going to try to Stain the Wood and get the darker Stain into the burnt on Grooves of the Designs and see if that helps make them more legible? I therefore wouldn't order from that Seller again, my Mandala Lid Seller was far Superior in Quality of their Product matching their Images.
I did notify the Seller of the condition of my Order being less than satisfactory, due to the faintly applied Design on the majority of the Lids. Tho' they fit well and were shipped fast, so I gave the benefit of Positive Feedback anyway. I just wouldn't be a repeat Customer due to that and if they want repeat Customers they do need to get it right and apply their Wood Burning Designs better, like they show in the Images, so, clearly they CAN do it right, but got sloppy with some application when mass producing them. I personally think when a Seller is Listing something at Auction they should have to Photograph the exact Merch you'll be receiving. So that it will accurately reflect what they have up For Sale and you KNOW you're getting the ones pictured.
I have a large Jadeite Collection so Loved this Vignette of someone's Collection of it. I have many of these pieces too but don't have an area to Display them at this Home. I fell deeply down the Pinterest Rabbit Hole again looking at Christmas Imagery and being Inspired. There were several of these Barbie Wreaths {Below} that I think were probably made by the same Artisan that Creates them. In different Colors with various Barbies on the Wreath, they were really Unique and for someone who Collects Barbies, I think they'd be perfect. Each Wreath was OOAK and I liked them all even tho' I'm not a Barbie Collector at all. I only have a couple of Barbie's that were Altered Art Barbies a Friend made for me, one as Artist Frida Kahlo and one of Yul Brynner as The King Of Siam. I Cherish them since she made them specifically for me.
