What Blog Fodder Do I Have For You Today?

Princess T and Juan Carlos put up the 9 Foot Christmas Tree, but it wouldn't light up except at the very bottom, so they took it down, boxed it back up and we Donated it.  Trying to rewire lighting on a Pre-Lit Tree is more of a Project than I wanted to tackle and I've enjoyed that Tree now for a few Years and had gotten it secondhand.  So, they put up another Tree I had, and of the Four Pre-Lit Sections, wouldn't ya know, the very Top and one in the Middle wouldn't Light!  *Le Sigh*  So, I'm just gonna buy some Cheap White Fairy Lights and fill in the Dark sections for this Year.   Time to buy a new Tree for sure, tho' the one Princess T is using is Fine and totally lit up.

We also went shopping for the Ornaments for her Tree, it seemed all the Stores, including the Big Box Stores, were short on Christmas Ornaments this Year!   We had to go to Four different Stores to find enough to Decorate her Tree.   We struck out at Hobby Lobby, which didn't have hardly any, really odd, since usually they have an abundance of Shatterproof Ornament selections.   Found just a portion of what she wanted at Michael's, again, they usually have an abundance, they were down to one Endcap of Ornaments!   The 99 Cent Only Store was where we found the balance of what she needed.  *Whew*  Becoz of having difficulty finding any, she altered her Color Scheme to Red, Black, Silver and Iridescent Pearlized.

She ended up with 120 Shatterproof Ornaments and it turned out really well, Juan Carlos helped her Decorate it and put her Squishmallow Collection underneath it.    Eli the Cat is getting a little less anxious around the Tree now he's had it in the Room for a Day, he still doesn't like it, but isn't messing with it at all either, which is good.   Eventually he's going to become familiar enough to just ignore it and Calm down around it, being less scared.   She was going to take it down if he hadn't of looked like he was going to be able to Cope with it being in there.  So, I'm glad he seems to be doing better with it as he gets used to it being in their shared Space.   I think her Tree is gonna look better than the main one.  *Ha ha ha*

Since I have to buy replacement Lights for my Tree in the Morning, I am holding off any Decorating of it until I get the whole Tree lit back up.   The Daughter cleaned her Boss' Home Today, she said it was the first time she's Cleaned a Home Sober, and it's different than doing it High and Tweaking.  *LMAO*    So, a Five Hour Cleaning Gig kicked her Ass, she said she's getting too Old to do that level of Physical Work Sober.  *Bwahahaha*   She agreed to do the side gig to earn more Money to spend on her Kids for Christmas.   She's a hard Worker and everyone knows that about her, when she Cleans, you will have a Deep Cleaned Space!   But, her Dad and I were Amused at her brutally honest comment about not being as good at doing it when she's not High.  *LOL*

I got some Workout Clothes for going to the Gym, Scored them at a Chazza, since, good quality Workout Clothes can cost a lot if you pay full Retail.   It was Senior Day at the Chazzas so I got 30% Off the already much lower Price.   I also Scored a Holiday Scent Gold Canyon Candle for only Two Bucks, the Company was always a favorite of mine for Quality Candles, but sadly, they went out of Business during Pandemic.  They burn more evenly and thoroughly than their competitors, who are still in Business and just as expensive.  So, if I find any now in a Chazza, I pick them up so I'll still have a stash of them.   We use Scented Candles all of the time.   The only Brands I have always Bought are Gold Canyon and Votivo.   "Forgotten Sage" Scent is my all time favorite by Votivo.

Getting harder to find any Retailer that is Selling "Votivo" locally.   So, I had to Order some Online for the Holidays.  They had a Special, so I got Ten Bucks off my Order and Free Shipping, which wasn't bad and saved me trying to find a Local Shop that might carry them AND have the Scent I want.    So, I should have my Candles before Christmas, and the Scent of Forgotten Sage is Divine and the Quality of this Company's Candles is Superior and worth the price.   My Friend Kendra introduced me to the Line when she owned her Shop called "SAGE" and she used to burn the Forgotten Sage Votivo Candles in there while you Shopped.   I Wish she'd open another Shop like "SAGE", it was the best and most Unique Antique Shop and I still miss it all these Years later.

There's so many of the really good Shops that have Closed in recent Years, I miss them all.   Small Businesses have been struggling and Pandemic just wiped out so many of them that will never make a comeback or recover sufficiently.   It seems the Mega Corporations are the wave of the Future and they're just not the same.   Amazon Mega Warehouses are being built everywhere here in the West Valley now, most are each 880,000 square foot Eyesores to the landscape.  I know people who work for Amazon, some in Corporate, everything I don't like about the Company has been verified by those who are Employed there.

Anyway, it does provide Employment and there's plenty of Jobs out there exploiting their workforce, so it's not as if they're the Lone Ranger with that practice.  Capitalism has it's pros and its cons, just like everything else.  There's a confluence of factors causing inflation and tho' I'm no Economist Major, demand surging will always push up prices considerably.   Along with supply not responding accordingly, it has caused shortages and supply chain issues, driving costs up all the more.  Let us not forget that Oil Companies got hosed during Lockdown with so much less travel and demand for their product, now they are able to charge whatever they want and they are.  Limiting production is a ploy many Companies play when they want to raise their prices, cause a shortage, less going round means you can charge more for it.

Even recovery is complex and of coarse Politicians put their spin on it to point Fingers at one another for 'causing' it all, as if one side is entirely to blame and the other blameless.   In fact, who sets price point... exactly, whoever is Selling what we all wanna Buy, so they're in Control. They can only Sell what they have a Supply of and it has to get to it's Destination some kind of way, so it's an interwoven Web of confluence. Where and how something is Manufactured, Grown, and available from Season to Season varies... what Cheap Labor is available will be exploited for greater Profits to the Product and what it's Price will actually be.   You want Wages to go up, but most Consumers want Prices to go down, and it's not as if those two are mutually exclusive.   A Global Pandemic that hadn't happened in over a Century, well, it factored in of coarse.  Most Jobs eliminated are being replaced with Technology, not some other person taking your Job away and replacing you.

And, when demand remains high and people will Buy it at any Cost, that's what you'll be Charged for it.   Something is only ever Worth what someone is willing to Pay for it.   If the price of __________ is too high, you have the alleged Option to not Buy it, unless it's a Necessity, then you lose that Option considerably.   So, if all Rents and Mortgages are High, making Housing unaffordable, Homelessness for some will be the only Solution to not paying what the Market is demanding for that basic necessity of shelter.   Food and Water, you'll pay what it Costs, it will just take a bigger chunk of your income when it's Costs are soaring too.  Everything needs Transportation to get to it's desired Destination, so, that factors in, as well as the Labor Costs.   Some people seem oblivious to Economics 101 tho' and where they place 'blame' is comical and naive.

I injected Economics and the state of the Economy since it is the Holiday Season and this is when a lot of Consumers lose their Minds financially and intentionally go into Debt.   The pressure is on for Gift Buying and unrealistic expectations to soar.   I'm already seeing the Madness out there in the Stores and I'm sure Online Buying has increased to ridiculous levels too, even before Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Spenders are out in force.   Often they're the same people whining about the Economy, while fueling Inflation by their Habits.   If you're not part of a Solution, you are part of the Problem.   But, we have become a Consumer Society and a disposable one, so, here we are.   I play my active role too, but at least I acknowledge my part in it all, I'm not oblivious to it and playing some ignorant Blame Game.   And if you're willing to Pay for whatever I'm Selling, you'll be my Buyer too. *Winks*

  1. Plush marshmallows make for an interesting tree skirt. I am not putting up a tree this year. O used to screw the tree to the floor to ensure the cats did not knock it over. It only took once to learn that trick.

    1. We once had an Inside Cat that climbed our Tree and knocked it over one Year, the Trick I learned, since that Cat lived to be over 20, was to wire it to the Ceiling. Yes, Kids are Creative about how they did the Tree in her Room, she has so many of those Squishmallows Pillow Pets so it at least Organized them by using them in place of a Tree Skirt. Usually she has most of them on her Bed, she can bury herself in them. *Smiles*.

  2. No tree here this year. Nobody really celebrates. I will give my kids money. No one will give me anything. LOL.

That last photo is a Nancy Ann, isn't it? I have about 50 of those, still in their original boxes. I keep thinking I'll try to sell them and then consider the magnitude of the task and they sit in the closet.

    1. That Doll is a Nancy Ann Storybook Doll and was part of some Merch my Friend Myko had in her Showroom one Year. At the Antique Mall there are several Vendors who have them, but Antique/Vintage Dolls are often a tough Sell. People do Collect Dolls but those Collectors tend to be very specific and you have to find the right Customer who wants those specific kind of Dolls, either to expand an existing Collection or just becoz they like how they look. At least they are a very Small Doll and not Creepy, so they do Appeal to many Adult Collectors, but wouldn't be suitable as a Child's Toy IMO. As for Celebrations, ours got upended when The Son and The Daughter got into a bad car accident on the Eve of Thanksgiving. So, I don't know how Celebratory I will even be this Holiday Season now... dealing with injuries of Loved Ones and a totaled Vehicle brings me back to when The Man had his catastrophic accident, in so many ways it can change Life forever.

  3. The craziest cat we ever had used to climb the Christmas tree. Couldn't keep him down. And then he would lie under it, with the twinkling lights playing off his ginger colored fur. I wish a national TV news show would read your economics post word for word on the air. Boy, do people need to learn it, and you described it perfectly.

    1. People do need to have a better Economic and a better Financial IQ than most of them do. It's amazing to me that with Money being the World's most used form of Currency and Exchange, that so many People remain ignorant or very ill informed when it comes to it. The amount of even intelligent people who run with low information Economically and Financially is staggering. I used to Debt Counsel folks in financial crisis in my first Corporate Life, since I was in charge of the Negative aspect of Banking/Loans, running the Collections, Foreclosures and Bankruptcies Departments for Real Property. But by the time someone is losing or risking to lose their Homes, Debt Counseling has come too late in the game really, they should have sought advice and interventions earlier and become more knowledgeable about how to navigate Financial crisis and sought expert advice earlier on. We had a Cat that climbed our Tree many Years ago, we had to Wire it to the Ceiling. She lived to be over 20, so that was a lot of Christmases of keeping Rat Boy out of the Tree, she Matured and became disinterested over Time. We're fortunate that Eli seems afraid and then totally disinterested in that addition to her Room, he now ignores it now he knows it's not going to attack/hurt him. *LOL*

  4. Ok, where did you find my self portrait laying on the balls at?

    1. Princess T is very anal about Placement, her OCD kicks in so it takes her on quite the Journey when she's Decorating anything. I liked how it turned out too, it is stunning and Thankfully Eli was scared of it, then disinterested, so he leaves her Tree alone and ignores it. *Whew* I thought of you when I saw that Elf with the Lashes and Upscale Ensemble... ha ha ha... he does look like he could be an Elf Queen. *Smiles* We're dealing with a serious crisis right at Thanksgiving. The Son and Daughter were in a bad Car accident the Evening before Thanksgiving. It brings me back to The Man's catastrophic accident of Years ago that changed our lives forever. So, now I have injured Loved Ones, another Totaled Vehicle and more Questions than Answers about the details of what happened. Not the way you want to kick off the Holiday Season and it's a Call you never want to get even once in a Lifetime, let alone Twice!

  5. Princess T's tree is beautiful! Most cats love trees and will climb them and tip them over. Don't think I've ever heard of one being scared of a tree.

    Have a great Thanksgiving today!

    1. For such a big Cat, Eli is the biggest of Scaredycats. *LOL* Lucky for us he was scared of the Tree, then totally disinterested in it once he got used to it and knew it wasn't gonna attack or hurt him, so he ignores it completely now. *Whew* It will not be a great Thanksgiving for us now... The Son and The Daughter were in a bad Car Accident last Night on the Eve of Thanksgiving. So now I have injured Loved Ones, a Totaled new Truck, more Questions than Answers about what details are involved, seems the 2nd vehicle involved was abandoned with Lights off in the middle of a busy Road and the Occupants were out of it and didn't speak any English, but The Daughter didn't let on she knew what they were saying in Spanish, which didn't line up with the Truth at all, so that's suspicious. It wasn't visible in the Dark so didn't see it in time to stop. Everyone seems to be Insured, which is a relief. But it does take me back to that fateful day when The Man had his catastrophic accident and our lives forever changed over it... quite often those at most fault, if the Investigation gets botched or not handled appropriately, make things extremely complex to deal with in the aftermath. Like The Man's accident, it was just blocks from Home. We immediately went there and arrived before the Cops or Fire and Rescue and blocked other Vehicles from piling up into them more. That stretch of Road, especially in the Dark and during Holidays, is busy and fast moving, not very well lit. I wasn't prepared for getting that Call that you don't even want to have even once in a lifetime, let alone twice!
