So, Blog Parties used to abound here in The Land of Blog and I not only attended almost all of them I could find, but participated in more than a few. Especially those Hosted by my long time Blog Friend Vanessa of A FANCIFUL TWIST who is the Hostess with the Mostest when she throws a Legendary Mad Tea Party, Gypsy Vardo Bash or Halloween Party. She's also an Amazingly Creative Being, as you will see if you click on that link that will take you to not only her Party, but will give you Links to all the other Participants. Well, she's on about her 10th Year of Hosting the Mad Tea Party, but I just didn't feel I could participate this year. What! I missed Hosting a Party! Say it ain't so. Yep, it was so. I don't even know if I got rid of all my China Teacups that Princess T and I used to use for our Mad Tea Parties? I might have Sold them all when I Downsized. *Gasp!*
We still drink a lot of Tea here at Forever Boheme' and we're still all Mad here... but, this Year no Mad Tea Party Hosted for The Land Of Blog, I was just a Spectator this time around. It's been a Minute since Princess T even donned a Mad Tea Party Hat, like the one an Event Planner Blog Friend Created for her and sent to us Years ago that she's wearing in this pix. Back in those Days of Blogging, Blog Friends often sent each other Surprise Gift Packages and made arrangements to meet in person if they were in your neck of the woods. The Land has changed considerable, since Blogging has... but the Blog Community remains some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure and privilege to Connect with! I do miss the Blog Parties, great way to find new Blogs to enjoy and new Bloggers to meet. It was a Delightful way to spend a Rainy dreary Afternoon Blog Hopping the Mad Tea Parties being Hosted.
I think lots of Little Girls like Hosting Tea Parties and going a bit Mad with the Tulle and China, Fantastical Hats and Dress Up that goes along with it all. It can be quite Enchanting even when you're all Grown Up, to Host one and go a bit Mad with it no matter what your Age! I used to have some Amazing China Teacups in a Collection and we used them often for our Teas. Now I'm more into Mugs and Coffee... but I still have more varieties of Teas than most Tea Houses! When I Sold Off my Teacup Collection, or at least I think I have Sold off most, if not all of it, they always were an easy Sell. So, I think Teacups are still Popular even if Bone China is not anymore. Bone China and any Good China for that matter, is a tough Sell at any Antique Mall, most people just don't Host those kinds of High End Parties to use such Table Settings anymore.
It was Nostalgic to dredge up some more Blast From The Past Imagery from the Vault of the Photo Archives, of Princess T as a much Younger Child, all Glammed Up for our Mad Tea Party of the Day and wearing her Gifted Custom Hat my Blog Friend Created especially for her. This Friend was in high demand with her Clients for Custom Orders and Events, so it was a very Sweet thing for her to take the time to do and Gift us with. Her unexpected Surprise package arrived resplendent with China Teacups, Incense, Nosegays, Vintage Millinery Flowers and that incredible Hat, which we still have. I have a lot of fond Memories, not only of our own Mad Tea Parties we Hosted for Real or in The Land of Blog, but also attending many other Mad Tea Parties Hosted in The Land. Falling down that Rabbit Hole was always Magical and Transported you to some Wild Imaginings.
I myself used to get quite Carried Away with Herbed Butters, Gourmet Breads, Confections galore and Finger Sammies when Creating our Mad Tea Parties! That was Pre-Diabetic me, now it wouldn't be so Wise to be quite that indulgent, because I might never wake up from that Sugar Coma!? *LOL* I also Sold Off almost all mismatched Vintage and Antique China Plates I owned, we didn't really use them as much as the Jadeite and Paper Plates, and I had more than any Sane Woman should cart around the Countryside while Moving and attempting to Downsize Possessions that weren't necessary to Keep until I croak. *LOL* I don't miss that I Sold any of it actually, it was Fun when I was Collecting it, Sourcing it, using it a lot... but then, I wasn't anymore, so it's Time had just passed. That's when it's Time to pass it forward to someone else.
Now, I don't know about your Heirs, but mine didn't want any of it, so there would have been nobody to pass it along to. I even got rid of all my Pink Melmac from the Fifties, when I no longer had a Buttercup Yellow or Pink Retro Kitchen anymore. *LMAO... about the Pink Retro Phase I went thru, I could probably still handle Buttercup Yellow tho'!?* Okay, so in the early Sixties my Mom had a Buttercup Yellow Kitchen with Metal Cabinets with Retro Sleek Chrome Handles, and the Black N White Checkerboard linoleum Floor, I remember thinking it was a Magical Kitchen. Even her Retro Table and Chairs matched it, tho' the Pleather Retro Chairs were more of a Mustard Yellow with loads of Chrome. She had that Set right up 'til she required a Nursing Home, it lasted just that long! The Kitchen had been in Base Housing, but it was a great Kitchen nonetheless.
Anyway, sometimes during our little Parties we'd get all Fancy with our Refreshments, like we were Tea Masters or Baristas at some Fancy Coffee Shop! Well, sometimes we still do that, I ain't gonna Lie! *Bwahahaha* I think we were all Bougee like that with our Refreshments even long before Starbucks was? *Winks* Mebbe that's why Princess T and I J'Adore Starbucks, they're people after our own Hearts when it comes to our Refreshments and going all Extreme with them and the presentation of them? *LMAO* We are rather Over-The-Top kinda people, never pretended not to be actually... and Proud to be in fact! Do you need a Vintage Tablecloth for every Occasion to go with your Vintage or Designer Mugs or Teacups for every occasion... we had it! We could have done Event Rentals very Successfully with the Excess of Props we had for Extreme or Enchanting Entertaining! *LOL*
And for more than a Minute, all the Local Indie Bakeries and Tea Houses around these parts knew us on a First Name Basis! Now all the Tea Houses are just about gone, they fell out of Favor and I only know of one left that does a proper English Tea and is an Ahhhmazing place but way across the Valley. Many of the Small Local Bakeries also closed up Shop during Pandemic, along with other Specialty Shops that just couldn't weather those long non-essential closures mandated. It is hard to compete anyway when every Convenience Store, Grocery Chain and Big Mega Box Store carries the same thing you do and cheaper, with extended Hours that offer the Convenience and Discounts you just cannot match. It's a shame, I will pay more to Support the Local Indie Businesses and Unique Shops and Restaurants, but most people just won't.
I did Keep most of my Middle Eastern Glassware, I just Loved it too much to part with much of it. If we're not drinking Arabic Teas from them infused with Fresh Mint, I use them to hold Tea Light Candles inside of Italian Tole Bird Cages, just for how Magical it looks! An Exotic Tea Party is a lot of Fun to Host, giving your Guests a taste of Teas and Confections from the Middle East and Orient they probably never had before. I happen to J'Adore Arabic Tea and Confections... well, the Food too. The Man is more reluctant to try something new that he doesn't know what the Hell it is. Even tho' he traveled extensively in the Military and had to eat some Weird Shit I never have when deployed in War Zones abroad. *LOL* But I've exposed him to Cuisine that I doubt he would have ever tried in his Wildest Dreams, had I not brought him to places where he couldn't just order American fare. *LMAO*
What I liked best about the Old Tea Houses that used to abound, they Sold Sample Packs, several Packs in a Bundle, so you could try out a great many Teas. Princess T used to draw Happy, Meh or Sad Faces on the Packets so we'd know which ones we liked best and might buy the larger sized Packages of when we went back or Ordered at their Tea House Restaurant while Dining there. As you can see, she really liked this Irish Breakfast Tea, offered by our Fav Tea House of all time, Chakra 4, which no longer exists! *Le Sigh* The place that bought them out still offers loose Teas, but has no Restaurant or Crystals or Bakery and the amount they charge for their Teas is prohibitive and out of my League. Might be very good Tea, I should think so anyway if you're paying that much for it!
Our fav Confections to Host our Mad Tea Parties with were mini Fruit Tarts, Macaroons and Finger Sammies. Sometimes we made our own but more often than not the little Indie Bakeries had such an Amazing Selection at affordable prices that we'd just pop in and get some that had been made Fresh that Morning. Back when we lived in the Historic Home we were Walking Distance from the Olde Towne Shops which had numerous little Indie Bakeries, Restaurants, Ice-Cream Shops and other Specialty Shops that Sold a lot of fabulous Home-Made Offerings, some Recipes handed down for Generations. We were quite Spoiled by all of that and we knew most of the Owners and their Families... still do in fact, a lot of Locals never left, even tho' we did for a time.
While trawling the Old Photo Archives I ran across some Gems of Family that I forgot I'd Photographed the even Older Photos of and Saved Online. Like this one of my Mom, Barefoot and wearing her flowing Gypsy Skirt and billowy Sleeved Pirate Blouse, with her very Curly Blue Black Hair tied up and she probably had a Flower tucked in there on the opposite side. She always had spectacular Natural Nails which usually had Blood Red Nail Polish, and Blood Red Lipstick... she never looked like the typical June Cleavers of her Day! *LOL* Beside her is her Beloved Silver Tea Service, all set up for High Tea, that my Dad Saved up for Years to buy her when they were first Married. She kept that all her Life and now I think my Brother has it. Mom, being Welsh, always had High Tea, so I grew up with her Hosting Teas, drinking Tea every Day of her Life, and even Reading the Tea Leaves for folks.
Okay, another Blast from the Distant Past, of my Brother, Mom and I when we lived on Cape Cod, MA, near the Beach, when there was still an AFB nearby. Yep, I'm wearing a Tiara... and Mom is wearing Pencil Pants back when a lot of Women were not wearing Pants at all and it was rather scandalous if they presented themselves as Fashionistas in not so acceptable attire, especially if they were Foreign, spoke with a thick Accent and looked Exotic. Ya know, back then we didn't Care either what they thought or said about it! And trust me, a lot of them had a lot to say! *LOL* I did grow up Scrappy on account of that tho', since some of what was said was downright wicked and lies! So, I may or may not have handed a few kids that repeated what they'd heard at Home their Asses for such indiscretions and prejudiced talk about my Parents. *Winks*
Another one of Mom, in North Wales, wearing one of her Silk Kimonos. Mom really liked those and so do I, they never really go out of Style. Most of the ones Mom had probably came from Chinatown I suspect, since her Dad had been Raised by a Chinese Family. Gran-Gran kept with that Culture, along with his Welsh Culture, all of his Life and spoke both Languages, along with some English, even tho' he was illiterate in Reading or Writing in any Language. I never knew that until I was in my Teens and because Gran-Gran would pretend to read the Newspaper or anything I'd Written him, until Nanna told me he couldn't and she'd read it later for him. I understand, my Dad was not given a decent Education either... many Cultures that were marginalized were not and are still not. It has nothing to do with Intelligence and everything to do with Opportunity denied.
Another Surprise Gift I received from a Blog Friend Years ago that used to Host the most Fabulous Carnivale Blog Parties... I kept the Box for a Year unopened, Imagining it was the Beautiful Gift. Then one Day via our Blogs she asked me how I'd liked the Gypsy Earrings and Silver Cuff Bracelet she sent? She thought it hilarious that I assumed the Packaging was the Gift... that's just how enamored I'd been with her Delightful Artistic Packaging! I carefully opened it to finally get the Silver Gypsy Earrings and Silver Cuff Bracelet, which were Stunning, and then put the Box the way she had it, since I've kept it all these Years.
Her Surprise Package also held these Pixie Ears, some Incense and Essential Oils as I recall. I do Wish some of these Delightful Bloggers were still Blogging, but so many aren't anymore or they'd be on my Sidebar for you to Visit and Enjoy. I do know that many great Bloggers went to Instagram and I just don't use Instagram that much and only visit it when Friends using it tell me they'd like me to see something they have Shared there that they know I'd like and appreciate. What I do not like about Instagram: You cannot snag a picture for your Photo Archives and Future Inspiration from Instagram pixs and they just get buried in the Post Feed there eventually to where you'll never find nor see them ever again. At least with The Book of Faces and Pinterest, if a Friend Shares a pix I want to Keep, I can snag it and Save it to my Photo Archives.
But, back to Mad Tea Parties, where the Buffet Spreads could have any manner of Delights. We are huge Fans of Fresh Fruits and Blended Refreshments made from them. So, when they're in Season, we always have a Fridge full and put them on or in everything if we're not just eating them in Fruit Salads. I remember when The G-Kid Force had their State Caseworkers, I was often told by them that they'd never seen Kids eagerly eating such large amounts of Fresh Healthy Fruits, Veggies, Herbs, Teas and such as ours did. But, Kids will prefer Healthy Food options if they grow up having those available, we often Train Children to eat Junk and Jones' for unhealthy alternatives, Naturally Kids will gravitate to what Nourishes them most otherwise.
I suppose I'm Late to the Party and have actually Created a Post that would have Qualified as Mad Tea Party Oriented. *LOL* It's been Fun to take a dive into Old Archived Photos and dredge up some Old Images that were related to Tea and Blogging. I think I still might have that Vintage Diner Ware Teacup, those are sturdy and useful and I did keep some of my Vintage Diner Ware Cups and Mugs, tho' I Sold Off the majority of those too in the Downsizing and Great Edit and Purge. Vintage Diner Ware happens to be very Popular right now. I've Sold entire Sets for a tidy Sum at the Antique Mall when someone was Creating a Retro Kitchen and wanted The Real Deal. I've kept more of the Orphaned pieces I just liked best, not whole Sets I had.
Princess T has come in Twice already Tonight asking me to take Eli so she could catch a Break from him. *LOL* Grandpa tried to give her a Break from him, but he attacks Grandpa, not in a mean way, but The Man is just not great with Baby Animals since his Brain Damage, their quick movements and unpredictability cause him considerable Anxiety. Do you know how hard it is to have a wound up Kitten when you're trying to Blog tho'? He would do the Keyboard Dance and be mesmerized by what's on the Screen, then there's the added distraction of the Tropical Fish Tank to my Left... so, he didn't last long in here before I just tried to wear him out playing with him. He just wants Attention and to Play, apparently she's all Played Out already? *Bwahahahahaha*
Mebbe the Catnip on his Scratching Pad to entice him to scratch there rather than on her Bed corner wasn't such a fab idea she mused? Yeah, judging by how Glassy Eyed he was Tonight and overly animated, probably NOT! *Bwahahaha* He Calmed Down a bit when I was holding him 'til he saw a Shiny Bead dangling off a Dreadlock, he batted it and the Bead hit him in the Head pretty hard and the Dreadlock wrapped around him like a Rope Snake, startling him, so that was the end of him playing with my Hair at least. Shit, her Hair fights back and is trying to Kill me! The expression on his little Face was Priceless. *LOL* I could just see him and a Mad Tea Party Spread! That would be quite the Adventure in Madness!
Still having Fun trawling the Photo Archives to find as many Tea Party Blasts from the Past as I think would be Fun to Share again. I just Loved the Names of some of the Teas they had at Chakra 4 in their Sample Packs, almost as Creative and Amusing as the Names of the Weed at the New Dispensaries to entice people into trying them! *LMAO* Okay, so The Son's Medicinal MJ choice is one that is called Girl Scout Cookies... that's just hilarious! I really doubt that will be one the Girl Scouts will be Selling Door to Door or in front of the Shops... do you? *Bwahahahahaha*
Look how Cute Princess T was way back then drinking her Tea with her little Demitasse Cup with the tiny Demitasse Spoon, she Loved the Tiny Vintage Teacups and Coffee Espresso or Turkish Tea Cups best of all to put her Refreshments in way back then, they were just her size. I think I still have most of those, I don't recall Selling any of them off and I do have some complete Sets, like the one she's holding, which are Diner Grade, thick and keep things Hot a long time.
The Velvet Adorned Sachets held fragrant Potpourri in Delightful Scents of Rose, Lavender and Jasmine. I also forgot the Surprise Gift Box also contained a bunch of Vintage Floral Hankies! Princess T soon ditched her Gardening Hat she's wearing to plop that Mad Tea Party Hat on her Head, I thought she'd go to Bed wearing it! *Smiles* When Kiddos get something new and Fun you almost can't get them out of it when they're little. Anyway, my Blog Friend Tricia no longer Maintains her Delightful Blog, I do Wish she did, you would have Loved it. She Created sheer Magic on her Acreage and did prop Rentals of a lot of her Treasures, which was a Sublime Collection of everything you'd ever need to Stage everything from an Authentic Gypsy Mit Camp to a Delightful Custom Barn Wedding to an Enchanting Fairie Party in the Woods!
This was the Note attached to the Surprise Gift Package, which was a huge Package almost as tall as Princess T was at the time! This was about the time that The Man had his Catastrophic Accident and Cheer was in short supply. The Blog Community often sustained me and uplifted me, in Real Life everyone was pretty much conspicuous by their very absence... nothing sorting folks out quite like Trouble. When you become a Full Time Caregiver you realize how uncomfortable it makes most people to be around your Family anymore, get involved and how Isolating it will become. Serious illness, catastrophic injuries, permanent disabilities are just something many people feel ill at ease around, it's just how it is... people avoid what is uncomfortable or awkward for them if they can. The Blog Community had more people with a Point of Reference than I had in Real Life, so the Connections were just stronger while going thru shitty times.
Now on to something more pleasant to discuss... me as a Toddler with one of my Mom's Siamese Cats that used to Protect me... this was Cho Cho San Dara. He would walk on a Leash which my Mom tied to my Pram and nobody could come near me if that Cat was designated to keep people away or at bay. I actually vaguely remember those Shoes I'm wearing too, because they were Seal Fur and like Eskimo Shoes, I have no Idea where my Parents got them from. Dad didn't get sent to Murphy Dome Air Force Station, Alaska, for a Year's unaccompanied Tour of Duty until Years later. Anyway, as I recall I Loved those hideous little Funky Eskimo looking Fur Shoes! *LOL*
But, I digress... back to Tea! *LOL* This one called Wild & Weedy apparently Princess T liked so much she put a Smiley Face waving at us, that must have been a really Good one on the Rating System?! *Bwahahahaha* I particularly liked that Teacup so I do Hope I kept that one and didn't Sell it? Haven't laid Eyes on it since we Moved here so I dunno... a lot of stuff is still MIA and I might have either Purged or still have packed away somewhere in The Gauntlet that is the RV Garage? Since I had some Helpers packing there at the end, there's not telling what was packed with what else, it ended up being all very random and hectic just to get it done.
Funny she didn't Rate this one... the Words Lung and Dragonwell in it's Name might have meant she just wasn't even gonna risk trying it? *LOL* Sometimes the ones with the Kookiest Names tasted really Good tho', so you never knew which ones you'd like best. How a Tea ends up with the Name Lung Ching Dragonwell is Interesting tho'? Apparently this was the Green Tea of Emperors tho' and revered by the Chinese. The Menfolk always opted out for our Mad Tea Parties, even tho' The Young Prince drank Tea, he apparently wasn't into Tea Parties much which is why you don't see him in the Archived Tea Party Photos. He'd get his Tea and ditch us. *LOL*
Our all time Favorite Tea tho' has to be Jasmine Tea... even the Jasmine Teas sold at the Dollar Stores is pretty damned good. But these Fabric Teabags of Jasmine Tea I got from an Asian Grocer were the most Divine Jasmine Tea I've ever tasted! I mean, since each Teabag was Fabric and Stitched, you knew it was probably gonna be some pretty Special Tea right there! *LOL* And it was! Some of the Teas for Ailments are very good too when you're Sick, the therapeutic properties of Tea are not Myths. The Health benefits of certain Teas are something you can try for yourself without any side effects to risk in the doing of it... no downside to that!
I Hope you've enjoyed me Hosting a Belated Mad Tea Party Trip down Memory Lane, even if I didn't make it in time of the Link Up? I'm not even sure I'd remember how to link it up actually, it's been so long since I've done a Blog Party entry and participated in one. I do Hope they make a Comeback tho', these Delightful Blog Party Hops. It was a great way to spend this dreary Rainy Day where I never got out of my Jammies... and a nice Hot Tea is calling to me right now... Creating this Tea Post got me in the Mood I guess...
Blessings, Love, Light and Peace, Be Well and Stay Safe my Friends... Dawn... The Bohemian
