A Graduation

Yet another Beautiful Grand-Daughter has grown up into a Young Woman and will be Graduating Tonight!   It's not that they stay the Little Girl or the Little Boy in my Head so much, it's just that the becoming of an Adult seems to happen so very fast!   Is any other Senior feeling like Time just warps by once you pass about the 50'ish mark?   Seems to me Time moved slower in Youth, at a pace I could keep up with easier.  By your 60'ish Season it's gone into hyperdrive... so I can only Imagine how quickly subsequent Decades speed by!?

Now as the Time warp moves me Fast Forward at a break neck speed, I'm struggling to keep up with it and Process it in Real Time!   What... another Graduation... yet another Grandchild has attained Adulthood... yowsah!   In this Image alone, now Three of the Local ones are Grown Ups already!   And One isn't even Local anymore, he's moved to Washington State and will be coming this Week to pick up the rest of his belongings!   And the other Two Younger ones, have reached that Phase where they don't look so much like Little Girls anymore either lemme tell ya!  And that's just the Local ones I got to SEE Growing Up in person!  It goes even FASTER, that Metamorphosis, for those out of State or out of the Country you don't get to SEE it actually happening to... that Transformation to Adulthood!

One would think that as you Age into geezerdom, that Time would slow down instead, to this leisurely old geezer pace, but it doesn't!   So Tonight I Hope to be able to attend the Graduation, since The Son and Family live Locally, just across the Valley on the Far East Side.  I had inadvertently scheduled our Eastern Medicine Appointment for The Man and I this Afternoon, since I hadn't calendared a Graduation when we scheduled that.  It was kinda an Oh Shit we completely forgot to tell Gramma and Grandpa Moment... it happens when Life is Crazy and Full... which it always is, right?!  *LOL*  The Man won't get to attend since the Sensory Overload and long Ceremony of a Graduation would be too much for him.  Princess T will likely opt to stay Home with him so I can go and stay for the duration of it all.

It only seems like Yesterday that her Older Sister, now in College, had Graduated!   I remember it like it was Yesterday in fact!   I remember a time when the Oldest looked so much more Mature than the Younger ones... now they ALL are looking like Beautiful Young Women rather than Sweet Little Girls.  It is said that Girls just Grow Up faster than Boys, and having Raised both... I'm on the fence about that assessment, I'm not sure I'm in complete Agreement.  It seems to me they all just do, Grow Up SO FAST...  and even if it's in front of you Daily to Witness, the speed it happens throws you off sometimes!

Cherishing each phase of the Growing Up Process is something that every Parent and every Grandparent really has to be Mindful and Present in the Moments to do.   Otherwise, in the blink of an Eye you will miss Childhood... and Young Adults have such full Lives that it will become more difficult to connect in person.  Tonight I'm Happy we will get to connect in person and Share a Milestone together.   I'm always saddened at what I have missed, as a Gramma, with those who weren't Local.  If any of you has Family scattered across the World you know what I'm talkin' about!?

Little Girls and Little Boys for just a brief time, the Transformation into Womanhood and Manhood happens so quickly really.   But in reality it was 18 Years in the making, which when you look at that number it seems like it should feel like a very long time, right?!   In an 18 Year Time Span will be packed all of the Phases and Maturation that eventually lead from Sweet Memories like this where they're Pretending to be all Grown Up... to...

This... Young Adulthood... they have Arrived and don't have to Pretend anymore, they ARE Grown Up now!  The Pride you feel is enormous... but then the Pride you feel at every Phase of the Journey is enormous.  Every Milestone Celebrated, however long it takes to reach for each Child to attain it.  With these Girls their Beauty is matched by their Brilliance, excelling in everything they do.   I know she will be going on to very Great things and I couldn't be Prouder or more Happy for her!  As she embarks upon her next Journey that follows The Path chosen as an Adult the Future is Bright and Promising.

  1. Congratulations on the graduation ... and all those grandchildren! I agree, each decade seems to go faster . . . or as my wife B said last night, "I can't believe my son is already celebrating his tenth college reunion!"

  2. My grandchildren seemed to grow up quicker than my own children. My third grandchild is graduating in a few weeks and she will be off to college in far away Florida in August. I will miss her terribly.

    1. Yes, I am excited he's coming very soon, I miss his presence in the household. Congrats on so many of your Family and Friend's Children's Graduation, that makes it tough to attend all of them though! We had years like that where too many Graduated all at once!

  4. What very beautiful grandchildren you have. re Your previous post, my youngest son had waist-length blonde dreads when he was younger; I loved them.
