Blasts From The Past... Nostalgic Trip Down Memory Lane

While unpacking boxes and crates in the Hoarded Garages these past few days while it's Cooler, I'm finding Old Photos I've never even seen before, since I had apparently been Storing Photo Albums and boxes of Photos belonging to my Adult Children.   A Nostalgic trip down Memory Lane when I stumbled upon this tiny Thumbnail size State Fair Photo Booth Image of our Daughter and Grandson's Dad taken before he was born and when they were about his age, perhaps 16 or 17 years old!   My how time flies... with the help of Photoshopping I could blow up the tiny Image and better Share and Preserve it.  People used to think they were Brother and Sister because they had such similar features and shape of face... and their Son is as good looking as they were and looks so much like them now, as he's attained the age that they were way back then.  Sometimes I forget how young they were when he was born, just Teen Kids themselves who had known each other many years.  My Children have known most of their Friends since early Childhood, since unlike me they didn't live a Nomadic existence thru Childhood... and so most of the young people they grew up with I've also known since they were small Children too.  Now all grown up the vast majority are Parents themselves or even becoming Grandparents and it's hard to believe so much time has flown by in the blink of an Eye!

It's such a Treasure to be unpacking and locating items that have significance and Deep Nostalgia... which is why I have not been too hasty to just discard boxes and crates that have sat in Storage for years... you never know what they might hold!?!  So I'm going thru each and every one methodically and then thru each and every smaller container that was in there and held such Tiny Treasures as this one, tucked away since Lord knows how long since our Daughter has been in another Country now for over a decade!!!   It's like wading thru a Lifetime of Memories when you're unpacking Old Storage items isn't it?  And this is what motivates me to go thru each and every thing, every small trinket box, cigar box, jewelry box that might hold yet more Tiny Treasures that will now once again see the light of day and continue to be Cherished and Displayed around the Home.

  1. Aww....I know the same feelings. I stumbled over a 'box' of my deceased at 28 grandmother----apparently never opened since she died. Everything in that box was 1928 or older. Almost a little casket of memories. Perhaps my grandfather looked into it---but he married within a couple of years, and I think it was just packed away.

Thanks for sharing, and keep sifting, you are right--you never know what you may find. I found i own two empty burial plots in a file marked boat registrations(thank-you, Dad---lol)

    1. Oh how Funny to have found two burial plots you own and didn't know about marked boat registrations, that's hilarious! And how sweet that you discovered your Dear Grandmother's box of momentos and images... so young to have passed... we sometimes forget how high the mortality rate was at the turn of the Century!

  2. This happens to me when I decide to go through boxes in closets or the basement in the hope of purging unwanted items. It is an all-day project as I go through things and find treasures and pictures of the past that often bring me to tears. Little gets thrown away but I know it is a day well spent.

  3. I recently opened a bin from the move and wahla... 2 hrs later I had read through my diary's from the age of 10-18, oh if I could only give advice and comfort to that little lost girl. Going through photos always brings me tears. My husband and I have a state fair photo like this!

    1. Aren't those State Fair Photos the BEST?! They are so inexpensive and yet we've never had a bad one, they always turn out so good!!! And Yes, I shed tears as well, and looking back the Wisdom we have now would have come in handy back when we were Young and often foolish or lost, huh?
