Whew... That Was A LONG Weekend...

It's a good thing that I sometimes Schedule some Future Posts during times when I can write more than one... because I've been away for the past three days dealing with another Medical Crisis involving the Young Prince.
Yes, the past three days have been spent in various Emergency Rooms and Phoenix Children's Hospital 24-7.  I'm glad to now be Home and Happy to announce that he's going to be okay and responded well to Treatment.
But it was a very hairy and Anxiety ridden three days of having an extremely sick Grandchild, extensive tests, the possibility of surgery {Thankfully averted} and leaving The Man at Home alone with the Princess.  Which in itself was stressful being that he's still Post-Surgical and has extensive Medical Limitations himself, so this was very hard on him to keep it together and hold it down at Home so I could stay at the Hospital with Prince R!
We had only recently averted possible Surgery and Hospitalization of the Princess due to the broken Elbow and Arm at School... so to have yet another unexpected Medical Emergency, which required Hospitalization clear across the City, of her Brother, well, it was certainly not how I expected or Planned to spend this Weekend, that's for sure!
We had expected to attend the Celebration of Dia de los Muertos at the Desert Botanical Gardens this weekend... instead I felt like the living dead as I didn't get much, if any, sleep for almost 48 consecutive hours as the Young Prince was transported by Ambulance from one Emergency Room near Home to the Children's Hospital in East Phoenix, where he spent the next two days Hospitalized with me continuously by his bedside!  Scary stuff that is, to have a very sick Child!
But it certainly gave me a point of reference and a perspective of what it is like.  Because though our Family has certainly gone through a lot Healthwise and having Special Needs... it is nothing like what some Dear Families are up against and I Witnessed at the Children's Hospital... my Heart and Spirit ached for them and their seriously ill Children!
I met Parents there who had been by a Sick Child's bedside at the Hospital for 13+ consecutive weeks!  Three days had been overwhelming to me, I just couldn't even Imagine dealing with such Intense Stress, disruption of everyday Life and Routine and Anxiety regarding a Sick Child for Months or even Years!  Some even had their Healthy Child(ren) in tow!
Raising Special Needs Children and Grandchildren with Special Needs has certainly had it's particular daily challenges and the Princess has endured Chronic Health Issues from Birth... but for the most part it hasn't required extended Hospitalization and total disruption of Life or the dreadful Anxiety of dealing with Terminal Illness of a Child... that is beyond comprehension to me how Families up against that type of Crisis even Cope and go on?!?
But they do... and I Witnessed it for just a little while... and it Touched me Profoundly.  I'm Grateful for the Healing that took place for my Grandson and for how admirably the Staff took Care of us during the Health Crisis... and I Pray for the Healing of those who remain Hospitalized... and for the Strength and Peace of the Lord to be with each and every Sick One, Loved One and Staff Member Caring for them.

  1. Oh my, so glad he is doing ok. You sure have had your hands full lately, huh? The pictures and your posts are a reminder that there are so many families that endure so much more than I can even imagine. What I do know is God is with us every step of the way. Hope this week is a better one for you :-)

  2. I'm glad to hear the little prince is going to be OK. When it rains it pours huh? Yes even in the Arizona desert. I hope you've been able to catch up on some of that sleep girlfriend! Vanna
